9 Easy Ways to Repurpose Your Videos

Discover all the different ways you can transform your existing videos into new pieces of content.

We all know that creating killer content can take a lot of time and effort — but not if you have a good head start! If you tap into the potential of your videos and repurpose them into different pieces of content, you’ll reach a broader audience without burning yourself out.

You can turn your videos into social clips, blog posts, and more. Let’s dive in!

1. Pull clips for social media

More than half of the companies we surveyed for our 2025 State of Video Report create video clips to share on social media, and about a third say these clips directly support their business goals.

Short-form videos are great for grabbing attention, especially on platforms where audiences scroll quickly, but creating clips from scratch takes a lot of time. A smarter approach? Slice and dice the longer videos you already have sitting in your content library.

You can grab standout quotes from customer testimonials, create snippets for Instagram Reels, use epic teaser clips to entice folks to watch the longer version, spin up a short and snappy explainer video, and do so much more.

How to automatically pull clips from your videos

Just fire up Wistia’s editor, open the video, and use our AI-powered Social Clips feature to pull the best moments from the video. Once you refine the in and out points and add backgrounds and animations (if you want), you’ll get a batch of social clips with captions automatically burned in.

2. Turn videos into ads

Don’t have much time or money to spend on ads? No problem. With some clever repurposing, you can transform any video into an eye-catching ad. We do this all the time at Wistia. For example, when we released our 2023 State of Video Report, we wanted to get the word out in a big way by running an ad on social media. Our production team took a 56-second video they’d already made about the report and turned it into a punchy 20-second ad.

Here’s the original video:

And here’s the repurposed ad:

How to get an ad from one video

Open your video in Wistia’s editor and then trim, split, and cut it until you have the highlights and features you want. But don’t stop there! Add video bumpers, a recorded intro, stock clips, and whatever else your heart desires.

If you’re feeling extra fancy and want to add text overlays, a cool voiceover, or other special effects, we’ve got you covered. The Wistia platform has a variety of production integrations that allow you to export a video to another editing program for further customization.

3. Turn videos into blog posts

This helps you reach folks who prefer reading over watching videos and gives search engines more content to index, which can boost your SEO. And a blog post like a webinar recap can also get readers interested enough to watch the full video.

How to get a blog post from one video

You just need two things: the video transcript and ChatGPT. Drop the transcript in ChatGPT and prompt it to create a blog post. Give it some guidelines, like word count, voice/tone, and what you want the post to cover.

After ChatGPT gives you a decent draft to work with, you may need to add headers, adjust the brand voice, or expand on some parts to make sure your readers get all the important info they need.

Don’t forget to embed the video in the post, too!

4. Embed videos on your website

This is a powerful way to engage your audience and showcase your brand. Instead of just reading about your company and products, your visitors can experience them in action through dynamic videos. It’s a simple yet often overlooked strategy that can make a big impact on your website’s success.

What types of videos should you be adding to your website? Here are a few ideas:

  • Product or feature explainer videos that highlight the benefits of your offering
  • Social proof or customer testimonials that showcase the positive experiences of your customers
  • Team and company culture videos that give users a glimpse behind the scenes and show off your company’s personality and values

How to add a video to your site

Dig through your content library and find a video that would be a good fit for your website.

Next, upload it to Wistia (if you haven’t already) and:

  • Trim, crop, or add special effects in the video editor (if needed)
  • Add transcripts, captions, and/or interactive video features

Once the video’s ready, grab the embed code and add it to your site.

5. Make video playlists

If you’ve got a bunch of short videos on the same topic, why not combine them into a product playlist?

Let’s say you have several clips that showcase all the cool things someone can do with your product. By grouping the clips together, you can create a handy video guide for viewers.

How to create a video playlist

If you want a playlist that matches your brand, try Wistia Channels. A Wistia Channel is much more customizable than a YouTube playlist — you can change the color, font, and layout to match your brand.

Put all your videos in a folder in Wistia, create a channel, select the playlist option, and then embed the playlist on your site.

6. Pull clips for your help center

Show someone a successful solution, and they’ll want to see how you did it.

If you have an in-depth video tutorial, webinar recording, or another long-form video that demonstrates how to use your product, pull out the best parts that focus on solving specific challenges your users are facing and then put those clips in your help center.

Now your users can rewatch them as many times as they need to get it just right.

Just open up your video in Wistia’s editor, cut out the parts you don’t need, and voila! You’ve got a shiny new clip that’s ready to use.

7. Turn videos into audio podcasts

This is a great way to tap into a whole new market of people who prefer to consume information through listening instead of looking at a screen.

Draw on interviews, expert discussions about a subject, or an entertaining roundtable of guests. This type of content already relies on good storytelling, scripting, and engaging speakers.

It’s a breeze! You just need to open your video in a tool that supports audio extraction, edit the audio, export the file as audio only, and then upload it onto your favorite podcast hosting platform(s).

8. Create silent looping videos

In a sea of text and still images, silent looping videos stand out and get your message across in a fun and engaging way. They work just like high-quality GIFs, but they have better resolution and they can retain more details and colors. Plus, they take up less space on your website, which means faster load times and happier users.

How to create a silent looping video

Just fire up Wistia, grab a clip that you’ve created or uploaded, remove all the sound and player controls, and then embed it onto your site. We’ve even put together a tutorial that breaks down the steps for you.

9. Turn customer interviews into testimonials

If you’ve filmed in-depth customer interviews, you may already have a treasure trove of valuable content at your fingertips. Instead of letting these videos collect dust, why not repurpose them into snippets that pack a punch?

By extracting standout quotes and engaging moments from customer interviews, you can create bite-sized video testimonials that are perfect for sharing on social media, your blog, or your website.

How to get testimonials from a customer interview

If you have your customer interview uploaded to Wistia, you can auto-generate a transcript, read through it to find the most compelling quotes, and then clip out those moments in the editor. Or you can have Social Clips do it all for you. All the clips will be saved in your content library, where you can find the embed code for each one or share them on social.
